Another week another success story from Industry Connect. This time it’s Vincent who has come through us to land a front end developer job. We caught up with him before he left us to join a company which works in the financial sector.

First of all, congratulations Vincent! Can you tell us a little bit about your background before you came to Industry Connect?

I graduated from University quite a while ago but still, I struggled to find a job. It took me quite a while. In the meantime I had to work in a different job to support myself – it was really difficult to find a job.

After joining Industry Connect I found it very challenging and interesting for me. I learned new skills and after training, I got to walk straight into some commercial projects, and so that helped me up-skill a lot.

After that internship for around six months, I got my first full-time job offer at a development studio, working as a real software developer. So after a year now I’ve found another job, another challenging role, working as a software developer for another financial analyst company.

It all sounds very exciting!  Can you tell us a bit more about how you feel Industry Connect helped you?

Yes, Industry Connect helped me up-skill myself, and not just the technical side, but also the soft skills. We had a lot of presentations – learning how to talk to people and help other people. And also we learned from other people too.

So it wasn’t just technical guidance, it was learning how to build a connection with other people and that’s a very good way Industry Connect helped me.

So have you got anything you’d like to say to anyone else who is in that same position you were?

When you see a chance you should never miss it. If you see a chance to work with a real people in the software industry, real professional companies, then don’t miss it, just do it. You can do it and you’ll get it.
