“Don’t waste your time on a Masters, first join Industry Connect and get a job.”

Melbourne is once again the centre of good news with our graduate Ashanthi landing a new job as a HR data analyst!

We gave her a call to ask about her time with Industry Connect, what she thought of the programme, and if she would recommend us to others.

Congratulations Ashanthi on finding a job as a HR data analyst! Tell us, what was your background before joining Industry Connect?

Actually I had experience in Australia, working as a data systems and reporting analyst, but not with new technologies like Power BI, SSAS and SSRS, just mainly Excel.

So that’s where I want to build up my skills and I saw the job-ready programme and that’s when I applied. So yes, I had experience with data analysis, but not with the new technologies.

What do you think of the Industry Connect initiative?

Before starting Industry Connect, I was thinking of doing a Masters to polish up my skills, but then I saw your job-ready programme.

Rather than you just studying and not getting hands-on experience, this programme combined everything, allowing you to study and work and explore whatever you have learnt. I thought this was a real good opportunity rather than studying a Masters, this would actually help me.

And what did you think of MVP Studio?

It’s a really good community, like whenever you’re failing, the sessions will build up your motivation and give you strength, it’s really good.

I learnt a lot to be honest, rather than just pure study, you’re doing all these practical things, practical examples – it’s alike a live project. I actually gained a lot of experience with MVP Studio, definitely.

Would you recommend Industry Connect to others?

Of course, I would definitely recommend them. Don’t waste your time on a Masters, you can always do that in later in your spare time. Later on you can continue your studies, but first join Industry Connect and get a job.

You can be successful too – my case was different because I had Australian experience, but I’ve seen a lot of people who didn’t have Australian experience get good jobs, higher paying jobs.

I would always recommend Industry Connect and I’m happy to stay in this community.

Well thank you Ashanthi and congratulations once again on your new job as a HR data analyst!
